This role will operate in the Kingston/Belleville, Ontario region.
Trane Technologies is hiring a Controls Technician (Automation/Control) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for commissioning, diagnosing, and repairing air conditioning and/or chiller systems.
This position has been designated as onsite.
What you will do:
Utilize advanced analytics and artificial intelligence systems to optimize buildings.
Responsible for servicing assigned equipment and projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Use hand tools and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to diagnose and perform repairs.
Analyze, diagnose, and repair customer systems and equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, site reconnaissance, replacements, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
Prior to work and repairs on-site, review equipment layout, anticipate difficulties, gather necessary materials, and coordinate work as needed.
Represent the company by serving as direct contact with customers.
Provide training to customers.
Provide sales leads to account managers.
Identify parts to order for jobs and timing for placing orders.
Document material, parts, work, and all costs associated with each task and return unused resources.
Provide documents and reports within prescribed deadlines.
Keep knowledge up to date on installation, maintenance, operation, service, and repair of Trane products with ongoing training provided by Trane.
Read and interpret specifications, drawings, and product and building designs.
Provide technical support to customers.
May be required to supervise apprentice technicians.
Occasionally travel with overnight stays may be required.
Must be available for overtime and/or weekend work as needed.
Other duties may be assigned.
What you will bring:
Technical diploma in the field of building mechanics, refrigeration, or industrial automation, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar position, or an equivalent combination of work and education.
Strong communication skills.
Mathematical aptitude.
Reasoning ability.
Driver's license.

This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical rooms, and potentially in extreme conditions and temperatures. During the course of duties, the employee is often exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, precarious and elevated locations, wet conditions, airborne vapors and particles, vibrations, and risks of electrical shocks (high voltages). They may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is typically high.
