Trane Technologies is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Grand Rapids, MI. In this role, you will coordinate, organize and supervise production process methods and engineering activities that enable production. This includes sustaining engineering, new product launch processes and continuous improvement activities. The position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining production processes to drive quality and efficiency and to develop manufacturing plans which improve operations competitiveness.

Where is the work:

This position will be onsite each day in Grand Rapids, MI

What you will do:

  • Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of, all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, Lean Six Sigma Methodology, Kaizen leadership/support, project planning, and standard work development

  • Assumes responsibility for Capital planning, CER creations and Approvals, Capital Project Timing and Implementation, Capital Spending and Budgeting/ Assumes responsibility for Plant VA/VE Savings

  • Ensures all equipment meets OSHA compliant safety regulations

  • Work closely with AME on new machine start-up, commissioning, training, and maintenance

  • Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training and project reviews including: PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP), Lean Tools, Project Management and Simultaneous Engineering

  • Manages, develops, and improves manufacturing standards including machine capability, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings and cycle times

  • Work with machine builders to confirm new equipment meets design requirements and performs as expected

What we expect of you:

  • Degree preferred in Engineering or related technical disciplines; minimum of high school diploma or GED required.

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in PLC/HMI programming

  • Ability to quickly assess manufacturing issues related to design and tolerancing

  • Knowledge of basic design and manufacturing datum development and its effect in manufacturing processes

  • Experience reading and troubleshooting machine electrical drawings

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, CREO, MS Office Suite, MS Project
