Job Summary:

The Commercial HVAC Strategic Business Unit Quality Engineer will influence business bottom line results by supporting, facilitating, and reporting quality activities for each of our Manufacturing Plants. The responsibility includes oversight of all quality related systems through the prioritization of programs and activities to improve the performance of our products in the Plant and Field. This position will report to the SBU Manufacturing Quality Leader.

This position has been designated as Remote within geography; however will have many projects onsite and expectations will be for Quality Engineer to be onsite as needed. Work will be performed and candidates can be located: Clarksville, TN, Columbia, SC, Ft. Smith AR, Grand Rapids, MI, La Crosse, WI, Lynn Haven, FL, Pueblo, CO, Rushville, IN, St. Paul, MN, Waco, TX.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advance implementation and maturity of Quality Management Systems across manufacturing locations in Commercial HVAC Americas.

  • Quality Management Systems include the following:

  • Work Instructions, Job Breakdown Sheets, and STW Charts

  • Corrective Action Request (CAR), Deviation, and NCM processes

  • Quality MDI processes

  • Braze Excellence adoption

  • Tracking and holding teams accountable to deliver agreed upon quality improvements throughout the process will be key to driving a change in our quality culture.

  • Develop a strong understanding of equipment performance, Critical To Quality (CTQ) elements and provide key functional elements that drive the customer experience.

  • Facilitate and complete Root Cause Analysis work across multiple functions to ensure corrections can be made to improve manufacturing processes and product performance.

  • Develop with peers and communicate core messaging about quality improvement efforts and the changing culture that is occurring across all aspects of our business to improve the customer experience.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, operations management or related discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in quality or quality engineering in a design, engineering or manufacturing environment that has embraced best practices in terms of Advanced Quality Planning, DFMEA deployment and Production Part Approval Processes.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and applied knowledge in: APQP, DFMEA, PPAP

  • Experience in quality management, operations, lean manufacturing processes including visual management

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, mentor, team player including professional customer and supplier interaction capability

  • Ability to travel 20-50% with some peaks at higher levels.

  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate associates and to interact with various departments throughout the organization

  • Team oriented proactive change agent with a hands-on, collaborative approach in implementing and maintaining operating disciplines while leveraging lean methodologies

  • Problem solving techniques, process improvement tools, statistical and sampling techniques, SPC, process capability, traceability, control points

  • Project management and planning tools, measuring and monitoring of project activities and project documentation. Proficiency in information technology systems utilized in Quality Management Systems and process

Salary Range: $80,000 - $130,000
